Howdy All,
I'm based in Oz, and purchased a 505 for my Mother in the UK from BHP. The screen on her device has gone crazy showing a series of lines (which from other posts seems to be a fault). I'm emailed BHP to ask what their policy is with regards to warranty, but I wondered if anyone (not US based) has had any success in getting a replacement or repair under warranty? I got the device in November last year.
Cheers
Simon

Unfortunately, Sony doesn't recognize a warranty outside the U.S. The only option is if you have a Stateside friend or relative to make the warranty claim for you.
Even that's pretty iffy because what you're describing sounds like a screen breakage, which they usually respond isn't covered by the warranty, regardless. :sad2:

If you can send it in to Sony for repair, you can have it sent here when it is fixed as long as you pay for shipping back home.

Another possibility is a commercial address/shipping/forwarding service, such as fromus2eu.com (and similar). They make an address available where you can have goods delivered, after which they forward it you. They might be willing to do the same for a repaired reader?
Never hurts to ask :)

Thanks for the advice and offers of help..
My mum has a friend in the US who will send it to sony for her and then send it back..
What's debatable now is whether it is worth the expense of shipping it to the US, paying sony for the repair and shipping it back to the UK.
I'm debating whether we may be better off buying a new one
