View Full Version : Touch Screen
clewley 03-11-2008, 05:27 PM Hi all persons regardless of sex, colour, religion, weight, or even those addicted to none paper book reading.
Using a dictionary to learn a language on the bookeen cybook gen3 is useless.
To be useful it will have to have a touch screen.
I ask all persons, regardless of sex, colour, religion, weight, or even those addicted to none paper book reading, will it ever be possible to have a touch-screen on an e-ink book reader?
Thank you all.
Donnageddon 03-12-2008, 04:52 PM I am not sure I understand the poll. Does picking "Do we need a light or MP3 player on an e-book?" mean that you do not want a light or MP3 player on an eBook? Or does picking that response mean "Yes, we need a light and MP3 payer on an eBook"?
vivaldirules 03-12-2008, 05:14 PM I need only to be an ebook reader. But for a device with a display contrast like my Sony 500 I could really use an integrated light - not some clumsy attachment. It's not a requirement, but I could really use one like a Lightwedge, if they would only make one for our readers. If a touchscreen enabled the ability to do searches, then I'm for it.
I would prefer two types of liseuse: the bare-bones, how small can they make it, portable reader that I keep in my pocket; and the "lives in my handbag" one that's possibly even as big as the EEPC but has a big battery, touch screen, wireless and cellphone access (including bluetooth headset support for making calls) and all the rest. Call it "the one gadget" :)
yokos 03-14-2008, 08:36 AM I don't understand this poll, too. [..]
What is "light"? A lamp or so.
Why is the title of this thread "Touch Screen"?
There's no MP3 player, phone, or light on a normal book.
Is "normal book" a p-book or a e-book-reader?
HarryT 03-14-2008, 10:23 AM Since the poll choices are phrased as questions, presumably selecting an option indicates that you wish to ask the question? This really is an exceedingly odd poll.
There is, BTW, at least one eInk reader with a touch screen - the iLiad.
TommyCooper 03-17-2008, 05:44 PM I vote for an ebook reader to be developed which has some sort of bioluminescent backlight. Thus, little bookworms built into the device would make the screen glow with their specially dna-engineered glowing tails. You could even choose which colour you would like. Boy bookworms would give a nice blue backlight, whilst girl bookworms would give a pretty pink backlight. However, I'm not quite sure if bookworms are hemaphrodites so this, ultimately, may prove a serious drawback in the colour choices. Oh well, back to the drawing board.
Tommy :p
binzer 03-17-2008, 05:51 PM I'm confused...why is the title so different from the poll?
Anyways, I would like a touch screen at the bottom of my device that would work as a changing set of buttons/keyboard. It would take the place where there is normally just plastic (and buttons) but the rest of the screen would be normal.
As for lights, some sort of optional built-in book light with be nice (maybe an LED on each edge?) but I don't really care about anything else.
brecklundin 03-17-2008, 10:08 PM never ever drink & poll...worse than drink & dial-ing...
I prefer my ebook device to include a microwave and a dishwasher.
Taylor514ce 03-17-2008, 11:11 PM I vote this the best poll ever. Perfectly unanswerable, unless we assume the poll selections are voiced by pre-teen girls, who at least in my part of the globe, like, phrase everything as a question? By like, you know, their intonation? Gah, duh?
montsnmags 03-18-2008, 01:37 AM I vote this the best poll ever. ...
I voted for every option. Can't we all just get along? ;)
Personally, I think folks will want a highly-converged device, a specialist device, and a mixture of several options, until eventually LG bring out a fridge with an eInk reader on the front and we all say "Well, now that's just going too far".
It's gotta have a touchscreen though. It's the tactility that'll let me sigh its name while whispering sweet zeros in its USB port and stroking its menus gently.
"Oh, George. Why can't I "Quit Y/N" you?!"
Cheers,
Marc
