A novel. (1866)
The heroine, Clara, is anything but clear about what she wants. As usual (for Trollope) she is torn between two men. She’s a stong-minded girl who insists on being free to choose her women friends, but (inexplicably) cannot make up her mind about her suitors. (The choice is a no-brainer for anyone reading the novel.)
An estate hangs indirectly on her choice.
