My wife got me a Kindle for Valentine's Day - just ordered so I don't have it in hand. But I am excited about getting it soon and while searching around for information about Kindle and books and I found this site and all the great information contained here. Maybe someday I can help someone out like I have already been helped by a wealth of useful information.:)

My main reason for wanting a reader like this has nothing to do with not loving physical books but more with the fact that my eyes are not as strong as they used to be and I live in a house with a lot of trees and shade and I like the idea of choosing my own font size (large!) as well as the convenience. Plus I am a sucker for electronics.

Has Amazon given you an expected ship date? If not, then it could take up to four weeks to ship. Amazon has been working on the backlog, but it's still there.

I'm sure that you will enjoy the Kindle. I know that I have enjoyed the Sony Reader I have (and the screen on the Kindle -- the same as the new Sony screens -- is far better than the one on the old Sony.)

My wife is very happy that I have the Sony and that I have been clearing out bookshelves over the past 16 months as this creates more space for her books -- sewing, quilting, and cook books are not the best presented on a black and white 6" screen.
