My trial version of Librarian has expired, I discovered when I started it up just now. No worries, i can still send 3 books to my device right ?

WRONG ! i got an error message :
"Although there are 210 eBooks on your GEB eBook Librarian bookshelf, none of them are suitable for this device.

Please try again with another bookshelf or create some eBooks formatted for this device."

I tried quitting and restarting the Librarian, turning off / on my device, changing bookshelves... no joy.

is this a ploy to make me pay for registration ? if it is, it's a bad idea, something like that will make me want to NEVER give them ANY of my money !

any ideas ?

Try removing all the books from the bookshelf down to 3. Use windows to remove them.

i see the Librarian does not trust you to choose a maximum of 3 books among many... you may only have 3 available to you.

I created a new bookshelf ("test") where i put only 1 book. I actually did this before i made this post, and it did not work, i got the same message (but at least it was grammatically correct : "There is an ebook..."). but since you suggested it i tried it again. the reboot (leaving the "test" bookshelf selected) helped : now it works.

Glad it worked. the author wrote it to make a little money and chose not to give it away. that is certainly his right.

i agree that it is his right, but it seems a weaselly way to go about it... i think it's better to be honest in such matters. i was intending to register before this, in hopes that some new updates might one day make it a more useful tool (i only use it to edit meta-data or transfer books to my device right now, so i could get by without it), because i usually try to support the developpers who make softs i use. but now i'm hesitating. if you advertise that the free version can still transfer books, even with some limitations (that's fair), then there shouldn't be a trick you have to figure out...
