1) change the content of the file "software/NetPBM/palette.pgm" to

and change
... -colorspace GRAY -colors 4 ...
to
... -colorspace GRAY -colors 8 ...

4 instances occurs in each file.

naturally the final LRF filesize is increased by 40% in compare to the 4-level gray rendering.
