Was wondering about 3rd party aps (games)
I want my husband to play games on my NT (He soesn't like to read). Before I rush out and purchase games I think he might play, do they have the same restrictions that some ebooks do? DRM? Or is it just because they are made with different programing language?
Guess you can tell I don't know what I am talking about. If he likes my NT then I can buy another one. |

What is an "NT"? Windows NT? Kindle Non-Touch?
Nobody can possibly advise you from such a cryptic post. Last edited by HarryT; 12-21-2012 at 02:39 AM. |

I would assume Nook Tablet, based on her 'Device'.

If it is a Nook Tablet, which I imagine is an Android device, one would purchase said games from the appstore on the device itself, hence there should be no issues with that.

Yes I have a Nook Tablet. And yes I know I can buy games at B&N. What I would like to know, if I purchase a game from Amazon, or google can they be played on my NT. Can they be loaded onto my microSD card and played that way on the NT. ( I want to keep my NT stock)
If they cannot is it because they have something like ebooks have (DRM) or is it because each location use a different programing language to make their apps? |

I went looking to try and find my own answer.
Logging in to be a developer on B&N, Amazon and Google I found similar information. You need to download Java Development Kit and Android SDK. Also you need an emulator of either Kindle or Nook etc. A debug Bridge (ADB). Plus other stuff! Also I saw mentioned on both Amazon & B&N about DRM. So it seems all these place use java programing, with the android OS to make their apps. Each site adds programing language to let the 'games' work with their ereaders. Also DRM can be added if the developer wants. So I think ~ AnemicOak has the best answer for me. Getting something like a Nexus would be the best for just playing games because of the large supply available. Now if what I thought I read is not true enough, please feel free to correct me. |
