Bookeen annnounced that the recent pause in shipping included any outstanding accessories from previously shipped orders. Shipping will start again tomorrow.
Thanks, Snuffi, for letting us know (http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?p=142307#post142307).
Hadrien 01-23-2008, 12:20 PM Yes, this mean that shipping will start tomorrow and that the missing items will be sent before the end of the month.

Hi,
I've had a Cybook since Dec 24, and love it. It's a great device for everyone who likes to read. I use it every day, both to read books and RSS feeds. My new order (94XX) is a gift for a friend. Do you mind telling me what your order number is (approximately) ? I am wondering when my order will ship.
Thanks,
Maggie May 01-24-2008, 04:27 PM Hi Peterbrian.
My order No was 8678. Received my CYGen3 today. Haven't had time to play with it yet. May have to wait until the week-end. Will have more free time then. Hope I can hold out that long.
Egghead 01-24-2008, 04:42 PM Hm. I was order #10176. I wonder what that translates to in wait time?
reddots 01-25-2008, 12:33 PM My order is 9385, and I received a FedEx notification that it is shipping today (1/25).
Egghead 01-25-2008, 01:03 PM Update on Bookeen's website:
The Cybook is currently in stock. Shipments have restarted, the current average delay between order and shipment is 5 business days. Please note that your credit card will be charged upon order.
SciFiBill 01-25-2008, 02:00 PM Ohhhhh. I feel sick... I just received notification that my unit is to be delivered Monday morning. Oh, I can feel it creeping up on me... I need a SickDay. ;)
peterbrian 01-25-2008, 05:57 PM I got notification from Fedex that my CYBOOK shipped today (order 94XX), to arrive on Monday. Yay !!
Now to wait to see if the birthday boy likes the gift. I hope he's not reading this !!
Too late now, Happy Birthday.
Maggie May 01-26-2008, 04:11 PM Can anyone please tell me where I can locate my PID No. on the CYGen. I'm told I will need it to register with Mobipocket.com Do I need it using Windows, or is it only Mac users that need the PID No.? Thanks for any help.
Mag.
tribble 01-26-2008, 04:18 PM Go to the Menu, then select "Advanced ..." and the select "About..." and there you will find the PID
Maggie May 01-26-2008, 04:40 PM I found it tribble. Thank you so much for your help and for replying so quickly. I really appreciate it.
Mag.
reddots 01-28-2008, 12:23 PM I am holding in my hands a virgin cybook gen3. My order number was 9385, and I placed my order on 8 Jan 08.
I am pleased to report that all equipment is in the package (cover, ccharger, spare battery, memory card).
SciFiBill 01-28-2008, 12:33 PM Argh!!! Mine was delivered this morning at 9:34 AM. But I am at work, and it's at home! Four more hours, and 30 minute drive away from it!
Darn you Military ethic, darn you to heck!
:(
Egghead 01-28-2008, 01:23 PM Well, Bookeen has charged my CC, but I haven't gotten shipping notification yet.
HarryT 01-29-2008, 02:23 AM Your credit card gets charged at the time that you place your order.
neocreo 01-29-2008, 11:02 AM Told my boss I wasn't coming in until my package arrived. Ordered 2weeks ago to the day. Last night I got the email from FedEx. When I saw it was at Stansted at 7 this morning I decided to wait it out.
I have had trouble with letters and deliveries going missing, so I thought, screw it, for this amount I paid, I must stay around.
And just to make sure, I posted a big sign for the FedEx guy where our flat was, as we don't have a doorbell. Actually, I put up two :2thumbsup
Delivery by 12... and 11.30 it arrived. Yay
Now it is charging here at work and plenty of people want to have a go.
 No reading while charging from the USB. THAT is annoying.:smack:
Already loaded my SD with a couple of PDFs and html, just to see how the display works.
fun fun fun fun fun fun
Snuffi 01-31-2008, 07:57 AM Good to hear that people now get complete packages including cover and spare batteries. I would have expected, though, that those people who have been waiting for weeks for their missing items would get those before they deliver new orders. It'll be two month next week that I ordered and I think I'm gonna start charging them interest on the money which they received two month ago (just kidding here :-)
They told me that I would get the missing items by the end of the month (January) which - in my experience with most companies - translates to "we will send it at the beginning of February and then it'll take a couple of days to arrive". So, that means that they're still on schedule :-) But if doesn't by end of next week, I guess it's time again to start sending them mail again. Kinda bugs me that I have to keep waiting around for something I paid ages ago...
Egghead 01-31-2008, 09:02 AM Snuffi, what was your order number, if you don't mind my asking?
IceHand 01-31-2008, 04:45 PM I got my Cybook mid-december and am still waiting for my cover to arrive ...
delphidb96 01-31-2008, 04:57 PM I got my Cybook mid-december and am still waiting for my cover to arrive ...
Heck. I've been waiting for my replacement unit for nearly a month now... No Cybook. I'm in reading-deprivation HELL!

I know how that feels........
Egghead 02-01-2008, 11:16 PM I got an email from FedEx today telling me my Cybook has shipped. It said it should be delivered Monday, before 10:30 a.m.
Snuffi 02-04-2008, 03:01 AM Sorry, wasn't online during the weekend and don't have the order number at hand right now but my Cybook was delivered on the 18th of December.
So, I'd assume that in any case my order number must be lower than that of people who placed their order in January.
From the point of view of Bookeen I kind of understand that behavior: If I were them I would also be tempted to deliver the full package to someone who just ordered and let the other guy who's just missing the cover and the battery wait a little longer. The new customer who hasn't received the Cybook yet is more likely to cancel their order if they have to wait long. The customer who is only waiting for the cover is a lot less likely to send the device back and cancel the entire sale just because the cover is slow to arrive (which is certainly true, I won't give them back my book :-) Also some people might not need the cover that desperately so they might even not mind the delay that much. (In my case it's a bit of a nuisance as I use it on my way to work and would like to see it protected when changing in crowded stations, plus I don't want to just throw it into my briefcase for fear of scratching the display)
Anyway, if they sent it within the first week after they said they had things in stock again, there's a good chance that it'll arrive this week.. :-)
IceHand 02-04-2008, 09:26 AM I received a message from Bookeen today:
The latest bunch shipped on January 31 via standard postal services.
Missing items are on their way; you should receive them within the next
days
Egghead 02-05-2008, 08:45 AM Yesterday came and went, with no FedEx delivery. Today, I received this email from Bookeen:
Dear Customer,
Here is a status about your recent order(s).
If you already received it (them), you can ignore this message.
1) Your order(s) shipped last Friday, February 1st 2008, from our Paris facilities.
You must have received an email notification to track your shipment(s) on Friday.
There has been an important incident overnight and most packages have not been (cannot be) delivered.
2) Do not worry: you are in no way responsible for this.
Packages are going to be resent between today and Thursday.
You will receive a new tracking notification.
3) For your information, here are additional details:
- A FedEx truck containing a whole container of 700 parcels was hijacked between Paris and the airport last Friday night.
- The driver was seriously injured. He is at the hospital but is now safe.
- Orders dispatched via other trucks have all been delivered.
- Some of you only received a part of their multi-package shipments. The remainder is going to be resent.
- Orders which shipped on Thursday January 31st have all been delivered.
- Orders which shipped yesterday, on Monday February 4, are being delivered as expected.
- This is the first time it happens since we are working with FedEx (2004), so be assured it is an extremely exceptional case.
We are all working to solve the situation as fast as possible.
Thank you for your patience; we hope the Cybook groundbreaking reading experience will be beyond your expectations.
With our best regards,
Bookeen Team
PS:
- Please note that this is a generic message sent to all recipients of Feb 1 shipments.
- Please answer back only if needed as this will add to the current disturbance.
tribble 02-05-2008, 09:29 AM yes, indeed. We were supposed to get a shipment including 8 boxes. One of those boxes made it. The rest was stolen. That really, really sucks.
I hope that the driver is going to be well soon though.

At least they answered you on the return. My screen has been broken for 3 weeks now and I can't get a single reply from Bookeen.

That probably means that they haven't been getting your e-mail. Try sending it from a different account (Yahoo, hotmail, or something similar).

Actually I've been sending from different accounts (I've also sent from the account that got the notification that it was shipped back in November). From what I've been reading on this forum I think you're being too generous regarding Bookeen's desire to provide customer service. I noticed a phone number on a 2004 press release,
Perhaps a phone call to Laurent Picard of Bookeen at
33-0-153792089 might help?
HarryT 02-05-2008, 12:36 PM I've personally always had prompt replies from "support@bookeen.com", jpb, which is why I have a suspicion that your e-mail is not reaching them. It's far more likely than sinister conspiracy theories, IMHO. I'm very sorry to hear that you're having such awful problem contacting them; forgive the obvious suggestion, but have you checked your spam filters to make sure that Bookeen's replies to you aren't getting lost?
tribble 02-05-2008, 02:40 PM I have had problems with bookeen not replying promptly. But it is probably just depending on how busy they are that particular day. They are only a couple of people and its getting quite hectic sometimes. And on monday, after having many hours of pcking and shipping done they get notified, that they have lost a few hundred units and many hours of work, because someone robbed the FedEx truck. I feel for them. But i can also understand people who are being annoyed by slow responses. Bookeen should get a ticket system going.

Ya I know, I'm just getting frustrated, mostly cause I had my cybook working just long enough to have gotten used to having lots of books with me all the time; it's just the withdrawal symptoms talking :bookworm: I have been checking my spam filters as well unfortunately nothing being held up that way as of yet.

Everyone should keep a watch on Ebay to see who/if a bunch of Bookeen Cybook Gen 3's show up for sell.:chinscratch:

Vesper 02-07-2008, 07:43 AM On a lighter note...
My Cybook is "in transit" :happydance:
I expect it to arrive early next week (what can I say - I'm an optimist)
Egghead 02-07-2008, 02:06 PM Just received a new email telling me that a replacement cybook has shipped. Yay!
JSWolf 02-17-2008, 01:42 PM And nobody has bothered to keep this thread updated to say the gen3 is once again out of stock.
HarryT 02-17-2008, 01:43 PM Perhaps because anyone who was interested already knew? :) All you have to do is look at the Bookeen web site, after all.
JSWolf 02-17-2008, 01:44 PM I find out these things from MobileRead since I don't visit the Bookeen website all that much.
SUSGOD 02-17-2008, 09:35 PM And nobody has bothered to keep this thread updated to say the gen3 is once again out of stock.
On Feb 7, Prospect informed mobileread that the Bookeen website posted the sold out again notice. See http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=20241
