Opal Whitely
There is an interesting article in a blog post on the Internet version of the New Yorker titled "Opal Whitely's Riddles" about a mysterious young woman who published her diary in 1920. The diary was reportedly written when she was six years old. It was filled with strange stories about life in the woods, fairies and other oddities, and demonstrated an unusual attitude toward nature.
The New Yorker post is here: http://www.newyorker.com/online/blog...-whiteley.html Her diary is out of copyright and available through the Internet Archive in ePub and Kindle formats, here: http://archive.org/details/storyofopaljourn00whit |
