Just as soon as I had lodged an order on B&H for PRS 505 , it appears they have disappeared from stock. Anybody in the know how about stock supplies? My order was placed on 3 Jan 2008, and there is no indication yet of when it would be available.

I've been reading that Christmas really cleaned out the Sony readers. Hopefully stocks will rebuild soon though I've heard there may be a shortage of screens for them.

Hang in there. I wandered into the Pentagon City, VA Sony Store last Friday and discovered their window models were going for 40% off. Grabbed one right away and then posted the word on this site and someone else also got one.

Moral of the story: Keep trying

No idea when they will be available. What we think is that because PVI is the only ones making the 6" Vizplex screens, that because of the 505, Gen3, Kindle, V3, etc. that the screens are on high demand and short supply. You'll just have to wait. Sorry.

B&H do have 505 in stock, at least blue one.

Best thing to do is ask B&H how to do so if they accept it.

Actually, they did from the UK, but I'd not recommend it as I still needed to go through the "upload a credit card image" stage, plus, when it showed up an issue in their internal systems address-handling, they initially thought that they couldn't tweak the address as they had to use the Paypal one. (Actually, the Paypal one was fine, it just got corrupted internally to them, but took a bit to get that understood in that they didn't read the emails but fine once I made a phone call & they'd investigated.)

i just email them. i think it will take at least 1 or 2 days for me to hear anything from them.

B&H's Wire Transfer Help page here. (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/find/HelpCenter/WireTransfers.jsp)

No idea how it goes in practice, but I imagine you order then have an option to pay by Wire Transfer, as you need the order number for the transfer.

i tried to order one but when it comes to payment section, there is no wire transfer option.
btw shouldn't it be the same for all Paypal users? why only US Canada and UK. :D

I'd be tempted to give them a phone call - the agent I spoke to when I had the issue I referred to was both helpful & effective.

May i ask how much u paid? because i reckon the average price of 505 on Ebay is quite expensive, about $330-$360(exclude shipping cost :o)

i just found something for someone who don't have credit card and from Australia.
It called Prepaid credit card, issued by ANZ http://www.prepaidshop.com.au.
Basically, you use it like a normal credit card but with ur prepaid amount.
So its totally limited. :D

How does the aesthetics of dark blue look like. Does it look pleasing to the eye and does it look like a "book"?

Not sure if I'd say it looks like a book, but neither would I say that about the Silver... Have you seen this (http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18844) thread?

Just returned from holiday where I used my recently purchased blue PRS-505 for the first time and I must report I found it fantastic in every way.

On the plane, in bed, on the couch, on the sun lounger in bright sunlight, it was always easy and clear to read and the battery was still half full after a week and 3 ebooks.

I know there have been some complaints that the blue looks purple in certain lights but it is more of a tinge than out and out purple.

I think the blue looks classy and a change from the shiny silver gadget colour.

I think this is the most useful gadget I have ever purchased and leaves me lots of room in my hand luggage now I do not have to take 3 or 4 books with me.

I purchased my blue PRS-505 from Adorama Camera in New York for $279. Ordered on 1/4 and had it in my hands 1/10.

Stock might be catching up, but when I bought mine this week, it was tough to find. Most places still list it as "out of stock".

Even odder, there are two PRS505 units listed at Amazon. One sells for $400, the other sells for $300.

(Got mine from J&R out of New York for around $275 or so, closer to $300 including shipping and tax.)
