This is to recommend all of you to give a try to this novel. It's not a silly romance at all. It's a very well witten plot, making real good usage of the language. It's at NY Times bestsellers list. I hope you like.

View Full Version : Fifty Shades of Gray Triology ***** fcm52 07-22-2012, 04:38 PM This is to recommend all of you to give a try to this novel. It's not a silly romance at all. It's a very well witten plot, making real good usage of the language. It's at NY Times bestsellers list. I hope you like. FizzyWater 07-22-2012, 09:37 PM Opinions vary strongly. I loved this review (http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/340987215) of the first book. jgaiser 07-22-2012, 09:52 PM Since I haven't read the books (and never intend to) I was going to stay out of this thread, but yes... That's one of the best reviews of Fifty Shades I've seen. JSWolf 07-22-2012, 10:19 PM 50 ways to disgust your reader. MorganM 07-23-2012, 03:07 AM Oh man that review was the best yet. LOL Epic. applesauce 07-23-2012, 10:06 AM Please I sound like a broken record. A pair of emo teens have sex fight have sex repeat over and over again. Both needed a good spanking for their lameness. They are the worst books I have ever read. That is not even getting into the fact there is no plot and a monkey with a keyboard could have written it. Dreadful mummy porn where even the sex was beyond boring. applesauce Asawi 07-23-2012, 10:26 AM Edited myself here. My inner go... sorry... judgemental person was doing some typing and wrote a not very nice post... applesauce 07-23-2012, 10:40 AM Dont worry I took care of the judgemental part ;) I am no book snob and love a good trashy book, but these where beyond that. NOTHING happened in 3 entire books except fight sex fight sex. applesauce Asawi 07-23-2012, 10:55 AM I loved the review that post #2 linked to! In another topic about these books someone linked to this Amazon review that is very to the point. Not as hilarious as the Goodreads one, but very to the point! http://www.amazon.com/review/R2JF7E91JJVHAT/ fcm52 07-23-2012, 01:06 PM Hi, after reading your reactions to my post and some other reviews, I feel myself like that guy who sees "gold" where everyone else see(s)? "lead". I regret the fact of using the word " recomendation", because it is based on a very personal point of view. I shouldn't have used this. I agree that the erotic scenes aren't very spicy, but it's my understanding that this book is not an erotic literature, but an attempt to underline the neurotic peculiarities of each character involved in the story, and not their sexual performance or personal background. That's exactly what called my attention to this book, but I have to agree that it could be interpreted by some readers as something in between a silly platonic romance and an erotic tale. Remember the fact that it was in the NY Times bestesellers list. Do you really think that it was a commercial maneuvering? Anyway, it's not my purpose to change your opinion, but just a way to give consistency to my review. Have a very nice day all of you. spindlegirl 07-23-2012, 01:08 PM I couldn't even read the whole "look inside" free sample of the first book, it just didn't grab me. And yet a lot of women in their 40s (I am 45) talk about how much they love it. CWatkinsNash 07-23-2012, 09:21 PM Remember the fact that it was in the NY Times bestesellers list. Do you really think that it was a commercial maneuvering? The NYT Bestsellers List is not an indicator of anything conclusive. Or objective. Sometimes it's more like a self-fulfilling prophecy. Nearly everything about a book release is commercial maneuvering (aka, marketing). No one is required to defend their reading choices. My god, just the things I've read in the past week alone... :o If you enjoyed it, that's awesome - there's nothing quite like an enjoyable read. It's why we're here. (I mean MobileRead, but sometimes I think I exist to consume various forms of entertainment. Especially books. But I digress.) I won't be reading it. The excerpts I looked at didn't appeal to me, and I have issues with the media frenzy (also marketing, btw) that stirred all this up. JSWolf 07-23-2012, 09:33 PM A lot of books on the NY Times bestseller list are there because of word of mouth. I know a lot of people reading 50 Shades of Kill Me Before I Read Any More are doing so to find out what it is about. sexycdn2008 08-21-2012, 10:15 AM I personally loved these books........ Namekuseijin 08-21-2012, 01:47 PM I enjoyed the old unrelated Shades of Gray text adventure. BenG 08-21-2012, 11:24 PM I know what "biology" is. What is "triology"? TaureanBull 09-09-2012, 07:21 AM Mommy porn is raking moolah whether someone likes it or not even surpassing Harry Potter. Planning to take a plunge and I start with the first book. elemenoP 09-14-2012, 02:18 PM Gilbert Gottfried reads 50 Shades of Gray http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5K1RcKJVbHA&feature=youtu.be I think you have to laugh at this whether you liked the book or hated it, read it or didn't! eP banjobama 09-15-2012, 06:51 AM Remember the fact that it was in the NY Times bestesellers list. Do you really think that it was a commercial maneuvering? Yes, I do. This is funny as well. "What Exactly is '50 Shades of Grey' (And What Can You Expect From The Movie)?" (http://screencrush.com/50-shades-of-grey-movie/) The Sleeping Beauty trilogy by Anne Rice is actually well-written and has the same themes (punishment) and was written over 20 years before 50 Shades of Grey. Namekuseijin 09-19-2012, 02:00 PM Opinions vary strongly. I loved this review (http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/340987215) of the first book. oh my! haven't read it but certainly heard of all the hype. I'd still say the book has value: thanks to it, I've read one of the most funny reviews ever. Made my day... I'm going through Wool, though. That's definitely worthwhile the hype. weltonsfancy 09-19-2012, 07:51 PM Was going to read the ebook, but my local library had lots of holds on it. Was able to borrow from my daughter. Sigh! found out was written in the first person and I don't like that reading style any more. Only was able to get through a few pages. From reading the review in the 2nd post, sound like I didn't miss much. :) owly 09-20-2012, 04:54 AM The Swedish translation is on it's way but the EL James agency won't allow the electronic version to be to downloaded from the library. http://www.svd.se/kultur/femtio-nyanser-stoppas-som-e-lan_7499506.svd (artical in Swedish) |
