View Full Version : Closed Selling Sony Connect/eBook Store gift cards
JTravers 01-03-2008, 07:49 PM I got a few hundred dollars worth of Sony Connect/eBook Store gift cards as presents over the Holidays. (I guess all that bragging about my Sony Reader paid off!)
I doubt I'll be able to spend them all anytime soon, so I'd be willing to sell them at exact dollar value to anyone interested. Just PM me the value you want in USD and your email address, and I'll send you my PayPal info so you can send the payment. Once I get the payment, I'll email OR PM (your choice) the gift card code to you. The gift cards come in denominations of $5, $10, $20, $50, and $100.
I'll fill requests on a 1st come, 1st served basis until all my dollars run out (leaving some money for myself, of course)
I'll be willing to eat the PayPal fees on these transactions, too :D
PM me if you're interested.
:thanks:

Um, exactly what is the incentive to buy gift cards from someone else at exact dollar value? Am I missing something here? :)

I should have mentioned this, but this is more targeted towards those living outside the US who aren't able to buy books from the Sony eBook Store due to it only allowing purchases from buyers with a US credit card.
Buying gift cards gives them the ability to get around this silly limitation by Sony.
These gift cards don't expire, so I could just hold onto them and slowly spend them over the next couple years. Just thought I'd help some international buyers out, though. Since I live in the US, I can always use the cash I receive to make purchases later.

Well you can only get them in the US, so overseas folks might want then since they can't buy from Sony without a US cc or a gift card.
garygibsonsf 01-05-2008, 06:50 PM Right, I get it, 'exact dollar value' meaning - <slow>for every one british pound I pay, I get two dollars of spending power.</slow>
Numbers hurt ug's head at best of times, ug have nice lie down now.

very useful for someone who doesn't have a US credit card and doesn't travel to the US and so can't pick any vouchers myself.
:thanks:
JTravers 01-24-2008, 02:41 PM Update:
I'm now down to $100 worth of gift cards left to sell.
zoe.hutcheson 01-28-2008, 09:42 AM If you can confirm that I will be able to purchase books from the sony reader ebook library from uk with these vouchers then I would love to buy your remaining vouchers off you.
Have had reader for over a year now, bought upon release in NY when they said they were releasing it in UK shortly. As they havent, it has been basically useless since.
Thanks
Zoe

JSWolf 01-29-2008, 02:33 PM About the vouchers, when you get the vouchers for the eBook Store, do you get a code that you then enter into the eBook store to give you the credit?

Yes, exactly. You get a unique code which can then be applied to your eBook Store account.

Can you not buy books from fictionwise.com or one of the other third party books stores? Granted you will have to convert some of the stuff you get, perhaps using ConvertLIT and libprs500.

PaulM_NL 05-04-2008, 07:49 AM I am looking for some $100 worth of gift certificates. Can pay through Paypal or transfer directly into bank account.
paulmolenaar _at_ mac (dot com)
Happy to return a similar favour from Netherlands (excluding mind-altering ingredients ;-)
PaulM_NL 05-04-2008, 07:55 AM Oh and by the way, this used to work but has stopped working as of a couple of weeks ago:
I 'rented' a US address at myus.com and had American Express list that as my primary address on my credit card. At that point I could purchase from the Sony store with my regular credit card. I will try the trick again with a VPN account making my PC appear to be US based (the same trick I use to rent VUDU movies ;-)
The lengths you have to go through to circumvent these old-world rights issues based on ancient concepts as 'windows' and geographies... If I wanted to, I could obtain everything I want without paying a dime and here I am, subscribing to the notion that the rights owner deserves to make money and consequently find myself hindered to the maximum degree...
paulr 05-23-2008, 03:26 AM Hi
Another non-US resident appealing here.
Just got my awesome PRS-505.
Would anyone be willing to purchase some credits for me?
My email : paulrobson@revelationinternational.com
Looking for about US$100 worth (plus whatever additional for time and effort)
Thank you and karma for all
Paul
HarryT 05-23-2008, 06:53 AM Send "Leaping Gnome" a PM. He very kindly offers to buy Connect certificates for non-US people.

Thanks
