Doris Lessing was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature. I just read her speech. Wow. That's all I can say. Wow. I don't think that I can post it here; it's copyrighted. Here is a link.

Wow indeed. THAT'S the sort of speech you have to be a Nobel literature laureate to write.

Ok that was my insperation for the day. Give people like those Africans discussed here our education and they will surpass us so fast we would never see it coming. We us, would become the "third" world because so many of us do not care for education.

I feel like I want to pack up all my books and send them to someone. Somewhere in Africa, or in Latin America (my father was in the Peace Corps in Belize and they don't have books, paper, or chalk there, either). But I don't know where to send them, and I don't know if I could even afford to do so -- books are incredibly expensive to ship. :(
