Free (Kindle/iBooks/Sony/Smashwords) Debra Webb Romances

Debra Webb, author of the Colby agency series from Harlequin has three of her self published back titles for free!

Free Falling, Keeping Kennedy & Here To Stay

These are formally Precious Gems romances. Remember those? I use to love reading them. Her other PGR titles are only 99 cents right now but I'm waiting to see if they show up free later.

Thanks, I enjoy her books. I was first introduced to her through Harlequin.

Just FYI, Free Falling was originally titled Home Free when it was published as Zebra Precious Gems #265.

Thanks for the links, Blossom.

I don't know why authors change the titles like that. Carl Grace is known to do this too. You have to go through her backlist and match them up. I rather buy a previous published book then something that may have editing issues. a little note in the book's description even would make me happy.

Here to Stay (SW, iTunes)

Sometimes it's the publisher who does it. For example Agatha Christie has some books whose titles are different depending on where the book is published. A good example of this is "Murder in the Calais Coach" which is also known as "Murder on the Orient Express." According to Wikipedia:
Quote:
The US title of Murder on the Calais Coach was used to avoid confusion with the 1932 Graham Greene novel Stamboul Train which had been published in the US as Orient Express.

These books are self published. So it's not a publisher decision. HQ changes titles all the time. UK titles are different than US titles but that isn't the case here.

Possibly the author didn't like the title her book was published under and now that she's got control of her backlist, puts in what she originally wanted.

Because face it, given any sort of choice in the matter, would you voluntarily call your presumably non-satire contemporary romance Pregnesia?

Great author, crazy name. I got one even better.
It's a HQI The title is Covert Cootchie-Cootchie Coo

Still they could put a note somewhere. Some authors do this and it's works great for both.

That one's tough to beat, LOL.

A few more questionable titles...
The Very Virile Viking by Sandra Hill
Sex, Lies and Leprechauns by Renee Roszel
The Klone and I by Danielle Steel
Mating Rituals of the North American Wasp by Lauren Lipton

I agree it would be nice if this was done, not just this book but in general. She doesn't mention it there nor anywhere on her website that I saw. Very misleading and if I already owned it under the previous title I'd probably be unhappy that I forked out for it again without knowing (not with it free obviously, but say she upped the price to $2.99 or something).

I actually wish they'd mention if it was previously published even if the name hasn't been changed. They also need to mention it if it's been reworked.

I kind of wonder if that has any plot similarity to:

The Winter Courtship Rituals of Fur-Bearing Critters by Amy Lane

which I saw in the Fictionwise new releases last week.

Plenty of cracktastic fun with the Random Romance Novel Title Generator. I kind of want some of the results to be actually real:

The Aztec Cowboy's Depraved Housekeeper
The Turkish Baby Daddy's Unwilling Feminist
The Pacific Islander Communications Major's Anarcho-Syndicalist Captive
The Mayan NASCAR Driver's Irrepressible Heiress
The Austro-Hungarian Earl's Sleep-Deprived Secretary
The Scottish Pirate's Lonely Baby Mamma
The Mediterranean History Professor's Virgin Love-Slave

That last one reminds me of an actual series of books which includes The Virgin Billionaire's Hot Amish Escapade. Apparently they're almost all a take-off on soap-opera/Harlequin cliches, although the 1st in series which was a Valentine's Day freebie turned out to be pretty much the gay porno parody version of Breakfast at Tiffany's.
