Hi all,

I'm awaiting the arrival of a Cybook Gen 3, one of the series of books I want to get in eBook format is the Culture novels by Iain M Banks. I've been trying to find an online store which stocks his sci-fi titles but to no avail.

Just wondering if any of you have any information on where I can get any of Iain M Banks Culture eBooks.

Cheers,

Colin

The Player of Games is one of my very favorite books. I'm sorry to say I've only seen it available on the darknet. :(

Consider Phlebas ftw!

Unfortunately it looks like only a couple of Banks novels are available electronically, all non-Culture.

Interestingly there is an active listing (http://cgi.ebay.com/EBOOKS-IAN-BANKS-COLLECTION-10-EBOOKS_W0QQitemZ140201265264QQihZ004QQcategoryZ377 QQcmdZViewItem)on Ebay for ten Iain Banks ebooks (including Use Of Weapons and Consider Phlebas) which claims they are in the 'public domain'. :-/

I suspect the same claim is made for all of them.

All of the Culture novels are out there. None of them legally.

Most people selling eBooks on eBay are selling them illegally.

Same here..I want to get into the Culture novels, but Books On Board only sell 2 of them. I would like to read them in release chronological order, i.e. starting with "Consider Phlebas". Maybe something has changed since 2007 and there is an ebook store out these selling them? Please? :P

Are those DRM'd epubs?

Yes, EPUB files from Waterstone's have Adobe's ADEPT DRM.

Then (assuming they would have sold to a U.S. resident) they have lost a sale because of DRM.

I re-read Use of Weapons. It's really a very good book, it's better upon re-reading, which I felt compelled to do because the story stayed in my mind after reading it the once. So, brilliant that I got it for $1. Then I read Consider Phlebas, which didn't do it for me, but I'm still going to track down the others.

I found Use of Weapons very disturbing, which I'm sure was the intent. The Player of Games is my favorite. I've re-read it several times.

You might also like The Madness Season by C. S. Friedman. Fictionwise has it.

Thank you! I'll track down those two.
