Nate the great 11-22-2007, 07:02 PM Nice. They were on the usb drive? Yes. In the system folder. It's almost like they are begging you to hack it. igorsk 11-22-2007, 07:17 PM Interesting... so the UI is written in Java. Nate the great 11-22-2007, 10:23 PM Yes. In the system folder. It's almost like they are begging you to hack it. Let me clarify. The files were in the user accessible part of the flash. The same files and folder were on the SD card in the device. Barcey 11-23-2007, 12:16 AM Interesting history on what you've been reading too. Why have you been reading the Cybook Gen3 User Manual on your Kindle? :) Just curious. It's been logging errors for "/mnt/mmc/documents/ID2097-worldsthatwerent4.prc" and thinks it's 0 bytes. Were you getting errors through the interface as well? It looks like it has some handy debugging information there. Nate the great 11-23-2007, 05:19 AM Interesting history on what you've been reading too. I tried the Cybook manual because I wanted to test a diverse set of PRCs. It worked. The one PRC that you see there is a DRMed one from Fictionwise. I was fiddling with it to see if a simple change would get it to work. Nope. tklaus 11-23-2007, 10:39 PM Interesting that they didn't do any kind of obfuscation on the Java bytecode (at least not on the package/class/method names). It might decompile nicely... igorsk 11-24-2007, 09:58 AM They did obfuscate the Mobi reader classes. com.mobipocket.common.library.reader.book.d.<init>(Unknown Source) This is exactly how it looked on iLiad. Adam B. 11-26-2007, 08:49 AM They did obfuscate the Mobi reader classes. This is exactly how it looked on iLiad. They probably use the same base Mobipocket java code and built a different UI. It seems that is the standard way Mobipocket works on reading devices... arivero 11-27-2007, 08:56 AM Linux and Java powered. We are seeing how Free Software moves revolutions... in hardware. The Asus EEE (OLPG, er, OLPC) and the Kindle (E-ink readers). Hmm, all of this is MIT driven, isn't it? |
