New system font is a HUGE approvement over previous one.
Didn't notice any differences in PDF so far.

Bug still exists in this firmware: When having a folder name containing just capital letters, it will be shown in lower case letters. For example SQL becomes sql

hello.

how about RAR files.
is it possible to open large size RAR files?
if you have some time, please try that.

I'm now wondering whether should I buy the V3 or wait another year for future e-book devices.
my priority points are RAR and ZIP support.

all of my ebook collections are scanned image files.
so that "RAR and ZIP support" could be really nice, I think.

Bugs stille present in this release:
Adding bug(s) for 1.24 2007-11-12 firmware:
- When having a folder name containing just capital letters, it will be shown in lower case letters. For example SQL becomes sql.

- DOC files sometimes loose their position with the continue lines to the next page (light grey marked at bottom of page) in Zoom mode 2 (1 full, 2 zoomed in portrait, 3 landscape). Workaround is to cycle through the zoom modes 1 time until you hit zoom mode 2 again.

- When viewing DOC format files, when in landscape mode, the page is always accompanied by a blank page. Could we please get rid of the blank page, this is very annoying. Now we get first part of page 1, second part of page 1, blank page of page 1, first part of page 2, second part of page 2 etc.

Also find the rendering of PDF's fonts somehow less clear then as in the previous firmware 2007-11-02 somehow. Might just be perception, but still..

Oh... rtf format is now supported! Just had a file on my SD card that wasn't showing up before but now it's there and renders just fine :-)

Just tried a 9Mb RAR file containing PNG and HTML files. Works like a charm. It just opens up the RAR file as it was a folder and you can pick and choose your files to read. Hope this helps in your decision. Haven't tried a ZIP file yet, but I assume it works the same way.

Cheers

thanks for that info, mvoosten!

now I'm sure the V3 is what I have been waiting.
pdf, rar, zip* support and not so much heavy.
*maybe the zip is future support? not a big problem.

and that also has the Vizplex.
great!

I will get the one!
