iBooks only shows 1 page of each chapter

I've loaded an epub into iBooks and it only shows the first page in each chapter. The epub opens fine in calibre and in sigil.

Any suggestions?

Check the ePub out in ADE and also give it a run through FlightCrew and see if there are any errors listed.

Calibre and Sigil don't really count when it comes to viewing an ePub to check for visual errors.

FlightCrew gives the following error for each chapter

attribute 'value' is not declared for element 'meta'

the line it refers to is

<meta name="Adept.resource" value="urn:uuid:01fc3a31-bc43-44bd-ad0f-e94006ff3616" />

That's part of the DRM. You can delete that line from every file it's in.

Does it display properly using Adobe Digital Editions? If it does, you can download BlueFire Reader and use that to read this ePub on your iPad.

iBooks does some non-standard things and some things don't work as expected. Maybe that's the problem. Bluefire Reader uses a version of ADE so if it works in ADE for the computer, it should work in BlueFire.

This resource is reachable but not present in the OPF <manifest>

That means there is a file called added1 that is not listed in the OPF but some other file refers to it.

the file also doesn't seem to be in the epub anywhere that I can find. would either of these errors cause the problem i'm seeing?

I edited the epub to take care of the 2 errors and I'm still having the same problem. epub also works fine in BlueFire app for iPad, but I'd like to be able to include it with the rest of my library in one app.

Without seeing the CSS and the code, there's nothing anyone can do beyond what has already been done.

so interestingly, i used calibre to convert the epub to mobi, then convert the mobi back to epub, and the book loads correctly in iBooks.

The better solution is to figure out what's in the ePub that causes the problem with iBooks. Converting to Mobi and back to ePub may work OK or it may cause a big mess.

Look in the original. I bet the stylesheet there is a setting for 'height', probably in html or body and settings for the @page class.

iBooks can handle that (sjeez, what a surprise...), so if you remove it it should be alright.
