I recieved my cybook deluxe package today, but it was missing the spare battery and the plug adaptor for the usb.

Has anyone else had a similar problems or are they shipping "short" items on separately? I've mailed booken but I don't expect a response till tomorrow.

I'm curious if anyone else is short a battery as perhaps they ran short of them with the demand.

I'll be interested to see what they have to say about it. Its a little irritating to say the least that for such an expensive item (€450) plus shipping on top of that they can't even send me the right items. I am interested in hearing their repsonse.

Unless I've somehow missed them in the box :)

I bought the Deluxe package too and received everything I should have.

Well I got a prompt response from bookeen regarding this and promising to forward on the missing items within the next few days.

At least it seems to be a infrequent event based on the response here.

yes, I have the delux too and everything was included. Think you just had bad luck... good thing you have the USB cable and the reader so you won't miss the missing items much for the time being :-)

The usb cable was missing too. I just didn't notice that till later as my fiancee actually took delivery of the package. She pared down the plastic on a mini-usb cable to fit the reader (standard mini-usb cables couldn't clear the edge of the case properly) in order to charge it and get it to connect. I thought the cable seemed a bit odd when I finally laid my hands on the package.

At least it doesn't use a proprietary cable type so I can at least charge it and transfer files onto it.

Quite a nuisance though but the reader works fine and I'm finding it very handy so far.

That's odd; I have about 4 mini USB cables and they all fit the CyBook just fine. Sounds as if yours perhaps had a rather larger than usual surround! I use my cables completely interchangeably - I haven't got a clue which cable originally came with which device :).

Just about every single digital camera or PDA mini-USB cable I own (seven of them) will fit the Cybook without modification.

Interesting; I have two others (Nokia N800 and Qtek 9100 phone) and both have a miniUSB connector that's almost square, and too fat to fit the Cybook (at least without some slight violence :-)). The charger for the Qtek is the same and doesn't fit right either.

Definite case of YMMV :-)

Yes it was odd as I tried three different cables but all of them would not fit fully into the slot. The plastic surrounds on each of them were catching the edge of the cybook. The only cable that fit fully was the one that was pared down. I couldn't get any of the rest to slide fully into the usb slot on the device. I haven't gotten a new mini-usb cable in about 3 years though so perhaps they just made them with wider surrounds. At least it works though :)

Yep. That is good news!

AAMOF, all my mini-USB cables are new with devices developed. released and purchased within the last three years. Could be the physical design changed about then.

People might want to buy one from eBay. Specifically, the 5-pin mini-USB cables for digital SLRs seem to have the depth from the case to the end of the connector. Here's an after-market version for Canon which looks almost exactly like the Cybook one. http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-2-0-LEAD-CABLE-1-8M-USB-A-MALE-5PIN-MINI-USB-NEW_W0QQitemZ170164137598QQihZ007QQcategoryZ31495Q QssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
