Seriously, if you want to start developing/hacking on the Cybook, you'd need to bring a lot of Linux understanding; also, firmware upgrades are often a good point to start. If you are able to get the files of the upgrade, you may be able to modify them before they get onto your device.

... or they are signed (Sony Reader, recent upgrades), but some smart folks manage to get around that (igorsk, ...). :D
