This is the William F Fleming translation. I translated and restored some missing passages.

Five more tales:

1. ‘Jeannot and Colin’: compares the aristocracy with the bourgeoisie.
2. ‘The History of the Travels of Scarmentado’ examines the almost-ubiquitous nature of religious bigotry.
3. ‘The World As It Goes’ has the angel Ithuriel sending Babouc to examine Persepolis (Paris in disguise) and judge whether it merits destruction.
4. ‘The Black and the White’ is a romance set in Afghanistan. Incidentally, it considers the nature of time and reality
5. ‘The Good Brahmin’ wonders whether happiness comes from ignorance or knowledge.

I believe that I have now done all the ‘contes’ (‘tales’) of Voltaire. We now have more than Project Gutenberg.
