What If: 2012
What if the end of the world was upon us? What if you know that the day after tomorrow was the last day, and in order to avert said catastrophe you had to choose one final book, or series to read.
What would you read? I would read Stephen King's Dark Tower Series. I've only ever gotten to book four, anyway, and have always meant to finish that series. |

I would be sending time with my wife and family and not with my nose in a book.
But to avert the end? I would try and read Mote in God's Eye in one sitting...That'll do it! |

If it means I can only read one more book, I'd rather not read it and let the world come to an end... I can't imagine a live without reading....
(if I could read books after the end of the world was averted, it wouldn't have been the last book I'd have read, now, would it?) |

I would stop reading news articles that deal with economic issues, especially about the Euro-crisis, and enjoy this positive aspect of the end of the world (while spending time with friends/family etc.).

My question wasn't what you would read if the world was coming to an end? It's what if by you reading you could stop the world from ending? And in that what would you read to save the world? If reading could be said to save anything.

Save the World & Still Be Home for Dinner by Will Marre
Disclaimer: I never read the book and don't even know what it's about (I think it's some self-help book)... but the title just sounds so fitting. :P |

The Charge of the Light Brigade by Lord Alfred Tennyson. It just happens to be the shortest e-book (3 pages) in my Calibre library. That would get saving the world out of the way first thing, and then the rest of the day could be spent enjoying the adulation of about 7 billion people.

I hardly think I'd have time to read much. I'd be far too busy after having maxed out my credit cards on expensive booze, good food and a couple of high end filles de joie with which to while away my last hours.
