is there any confirmation that the kindle uses 800x600 e-ink display? Would there be any reason to believe they are trying something else?

View Full Version : kindle will use e-ink? rjnagle 10-29-2007, 03:23 PM is there any confirmation that the kindle uses 800x600 e-ink display? Would there be any reason to believe they are trying something else? Nate the great 10-29-2007, 03:40 PM On page 39 of the manual PDF, it says that the Kindle is using an Eink screen of some kind. HarryT 10-31-2007, 02:54 AM One might just as well say that the words on the screen will be written by fairies with magic wands :). Does it really make any sense to talk about the details of the hardware of a device that, as far as I can see, there is not the slightest shred of hard evidence has ever existed or ever will exist! yvanleterrible 10-31-2007, 07:56 AM Harry, there still are people looking for the Holy Grail! :laugh4: vivaldirules 10-31-2007, 10:15 AM The words on the screen will indeed be written by fairies with magic wands. :) nekokami 10-31-2007, 11:54 AM Really? I had heard gnomes. Shows how out of touch my sources are. You just can't rely on anyone these days. NatCh 10-31-2007, 12:24 PM You're both wrong, I have it on very good authority that it will be Pixies, with their magic stix doing the letters. Gnomes and Fairies? Psh, they'd both be way too heavy! TadW 10-31-2007, 12:30 PM They should call it the Amazon Daily Prophet. ;) MikeF74 10-31-2007, 12:54 PM Who is it that does the annual vaporware awards? We need to make sure the include the Kindle. Nate the great 10-31-2007, 01:00 PM The Kindle doesn't qualify. Vaporware is when the company announces a product they have yet to develop. Amazon continues to deny the existence of the Kindle. Alexander Turcic 10-31-2007, 01:13 PM The Kindle doesn't qualify. Vaporware is when the company announces a product they have yet to develop. Who gave us that last date? Engadget? That's the kindest way I can think of them... vivaldirules 10-31-2007, 01:45 PM Who gave us that last date? Engadget? I thought it was the NYTimes....where everything is written by fairies with magic wands.:vanish: NatCh 10-31-2007, 01:47 PM I thought it was the NYTimes....where everything is written by fairies with magic wands.:vanish:I think I'm going to ... leave that one alone. Peanut-butter and toe-jam sandwiches! vivaldirules 10-31-2007, 03:05 PM Speaking of the NYTimes, which I really do like a lot and I sincerely apologize if my earlier stupid comment was offensive to anyone, here's word from the guy who predicted the October 15 release of the Kindle: http://bits.blogs.nytimes.com/2007/10/31/still-waiting-for-amazons-kindle/ "According to publishing industry executives back then, Amazon had promised delivery of its keyboard-equipped electronic book reader during the second week of October. Now, those same people say that the company has pushed back that date and is aiming for a launch by the end of this year." and "A person who has seen the Kindle says that the device will connect via the Sprint network." NatCh 10-31-2007, 03:31 PM And still we have no pictures. :bigcry: RWood 10-31-2007, 04:22 PM This seems more like FUD -- Fear, Uncertainity, and Doubt. It keeps people from buying one of the other e-ink readers until they get to the market or they decide that the market is not worth their effort at the moment. vivaldirules 10-31-2007, 04:27 PM This seems more like FUD -- Fear, Uncertainity, and Doubt. It keeps people from buying one of the other e-ink readers until they get to the market or they decide that the market is not worth their effort at the moment. I think you're absolutely right. I bought my Sony late in July but in September when the NYTimes article came out I was almost wishing I had waited so I could see the Kindle because of the potential availability of very much more content, at least eventually. If I didn't own a Sony now, I would definitely be waiting. JSWolf 10-31-2007, 04:43 PM Amazon found that gas went up so much they had to use the Kindle for Kindling.
