(La Toison d’Or) 1839.
Unknown translator.
A novella in five fairly short chapters.
Tiburce is a romantic young Parisian. He resolves to fall in love with a blonde. So he goes to Antwerp, believing that it must be populated by blonde Flemish girls. He then falls hopelessly in love with the blonde Magdalen in Rubens’ painting, ‘Descent from the Cross.’
Can any woman match his romantic ideals?
I’ve added a picture (—guess which) and a ToC.
