[EDIT 04/02/2008:] I have attached a binary which supports full screen refreshes [-> removing ghosting]. Manual installation instruction is included in zip-file.

Are there are any Mahjongg fans out there? If yes, you will like xmahjongg.

Xmahjongg does work like the other millions of Mahjongg clones. 24 layouts are available. 3 of them are attached below.

Known bugs:
# Refreshing of screen isn’t perfect. Program relies completely
on patched libX11. Please use the "page switcher"
to start a full refresh of screen.
This should be fixed in version 0.2 soon. :D [EDIT] New binary with fix is out.
# Some of the horizontal layouts are cropped because they
don’t fit on screen. -> maybe choosing a smaller tileset for these

Xmahjongg's homepage is here (http://www.lcdf.org/xmahjongg/) with manual page (http://www.lcdf.org/xmahjongg/man.html).
8 tilesets are included. If you want more you can download prepared tilesets on the homepage of Mohave Mahjongg GUI (http://www.tikmark.com/Mohave/mohave.html). 31 tilesets (http://www.tikmark.com/Mohave/tilesets.tar.gz) [2,75 MB]

The attached pdf file is also included in zip file.

Cool!

I once made a version of this game that helped me learn hirigana by replacing the symbols with characters. Now that I'm trying to learn Chinese characters, maybe I should look and see how easy it is to replace the images in xmahjongg. :D

Replacing of background & tileset is explained in the readme. I hope everybody can understand this.

The ghosting is crap. I know this. It should be available a better version.

You can "turn off" the most of it when you edit the file /root of your memory/Programs/xmahjongg/_tileset.

Content should be:
dorothys
instead of
real

# Rename attached _tileset.txt to _tileset.
# Replace the file /root of your memory/Programs/xmahjongg/_tileset with the new one.

The "real" tileset looks nice but it is a ghosting night mare because of the grey colour. The "dorothys" works much better.

After a very long period I played Xmahjongg again. The fact of missing full screen refreshes is annoying.
So I patched this today. Playing is much better now.
A new binary is attached for those who can't wait for better version 0.2.
