I kept watching because even 12 run leads are not a sure thing in Fenway Park.

View Full Version : Red Sox Win Game 1 of the World Series 13 to 1 RWood 10-24-2007, 11:35 PM I kept watching because even 12 run leads are not a sure thing in Fenway Park. HarryT 10-25-2007, 02:10 AM What's this? Baseball? HappyMartin 10-25-2007, 02:15 AM Yep, I watched it when I lived in Florida some years back. (no cricket you see) VillageReader 10-25-2007, 05:04 AM Yep, bats are round and they almost always finish the same day. HarryT 10-25-2007, 05:36 AM There's a lot to be said for a game where you can watch the start of it, go away for a few days, and come back to see the end :). jasonkchapman 10-25-2007, 06:26 AM There's a lot to be said for a game where you can watch the start of it, go away for a few days, and come back to see the end :). Hmm. The same might be said for grass growing. Or paint drying. :) Baseball: Ten minutes of action, packed into three hours. HarryT 10-25-2007, 06:28 AM That's the thing, though; for the uniniated a 5 day "Test Match" in cricket may seem to be excessively long, but it's a game of strategy, not just "action". Besides which, what other game is civilized enough to have an afternoon break for tea? :) HappyMartin 10-25-2007, 06:47 AM Absolutely Harry. It is wonderful on the radio as well, I listen in the car and at home while reading. When a good one ends it leaves me with the same feeling as when I finish a good book, a little sad. Oh, Why Not? 10-25-2007, 07:57 AM Hi-jacked by a band of cricketeers? HarryT 10-25-2007, 08:00 AM I agree. The BBC's radio commentaries on test matches are an "experience" all of their own :). BenG 11-08-2007, 06:45 AM Talking Baseball: A lot of baseball fans are unhappy with MLB right now. MLB changed DRM suppliers, so that fans who previously bought and downloaded videos of baseball games from their website can no longer watch the games they paid for. http://www.boingboing.net/2007/11/07/mlb-rips-off-fans-wh.html kovidgoyal 11-08-2007, 09:35 AM Harry I'm sure you're a big fan of 20-20 ;-) |
