Please, if you have the time tell me what you think about my new server. I experienced some down-time yesterday (server got slashdotted). I really like the new hosting company, and for me this server runs very well. But does it also for you?

Tell me your (subjective) opinion (speed, reachability). If you can, also post your Ping times here (win users: dos command, 'ping turcic.com'). And mention your location (country).

If my site does not run as expected, I may still be able to change/improve things :D

I don't know where you were hosting out of before, but I never experience lag.... 4 packets pinged ya at an average of 212ms. But I'm in the U.S. ;)

I think you did a fantastico job with the forums, too. I meant to tell you before... :)

Hmmm.. The server is now in the US (before in Switzerland, Lausanne). 212ms is not a great ping time. I have 180ms and I am currently located in Germany.

Either way, great job on the new look. For what it's worth, I've seen a bit of a speed increase. It's not overwhelming, but it's an improvement. Could that be that I'm based in the US, as well?

I hereby nominate you our official thread necromancer. I think this is one of the oldest threads I've ever seen bumped up.

From Sweet Home Alabama:
9.83ms
9.77ms
9.86ms
On isitup.com

And
67ms
72ms
68ms
from my computer

You do an AMAZING job here. You and the Mods are like e-ink...you make the technology fade away so we don't notice it and we become totally engrossed in the content. Thank you for your hard work, I've gained a real education here about ebooks and ebook reader technology.

4 packets average 222ms

Am in Comunidad de Valencia, Spain

Speedtest.net ping to local (Elda) server at the same time was 192ms so I guess bottleneck is local

Edit:
Just noticed the date on the OP - 18.12.02, 01:07 - is it correct?

You Dirty Rat! You shot my brother, and now I am gonna shoot you, yeah, hmm, hmm

That was my impression of Jimmy Cagney, and tonight I will be your server. I highly recommend the veal.

Funny this thread was resurrected as I was looking for options today how to expand our infrastructure to better scale in the future. ;)
