I would like to purchase a Sony reader. A used PRS-500 is perfect, but I am also willing to buy a new PRS-505.
I am looking for someone who can ship it to Europe. Yes, I know, there is eBay, but I do not have a Paypal account. I would pay up front by bank transfer.

Since I've never done a bank transfer, doesn't that involve giving out your account number? if that's the case, I don't think anyone here will want to do that. You are best to get a PayPal account. What you could do otherwise is get a certified check for the amount in US Dollars and send it via the mail to the seller.

Ok, I just checked and yes, I would have to give my account number for a bank transfer. That isn't going to happen. Sorry. You won't find anyone willing to give up his/her account number. So the idea of a bank transfer is right out.

Bank transfers are extremely common in Europe, Jon, because many people don't have credit cards. Giving someone your account number and "sort code" allows them to pay money INTO your account. Only you can authorise money to go OUT of your account. There's no risk to you in giving someone that information.

Ok, I'm incorrect. Sorry.

Yes, it is very common for people to provide their account number to someone else. Purchasing by credit card online is a greater risk than this. Eg. charities in Europe always advertise their account #. The only risk they take is that someone will transfer money to it ;)

If all goes well, BlackVoid will be purchasing my Sony Reader PRS500.
