Pocket PC's do not come with a CHM Reader, and until now the ones available on the web were not free, or did not handle large CHM files well.
CHMReader (http://pjtewkesbury.webspace.surefish.co.uk/CHMReader.htm) is a free CHM Reader which can handle large CHM files (tested up to 14Mb in size). It also comes with full source-code. Maybe someone plans use it to convert it to Palm

CHM = Microsoft Windows HTML Help file format (CHM), which should provide an easy to use database-like format for searching and viewing information. Can also be used as an eBook format.

Check this thread (http://forum.isilo.com/showthread.php?t=165) over at the iSilo forums for a way to convert .chm files to iSilo format. Haven't tried it yet myself, but it sounds convincing.

I downloaded and tried CHMReader. It's not bad! I was able to read the iSilo for windows help file with no trouble at all. Nice!

Haven't tried it yet myself, but it sounds convincing. There are a couple of tools out there which can decompile .chm to .html. The most promising I've tried is CHM2web (http://chm2web.aklabs.com/) (shareware).

Be aware the link at the top is now broken. You can still grab CHMReader from PocketGear (http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=13281).
There's also a newer version called CHMReader.Net with more features available on The Code Project (http://www.codeproject.com/netcf/CHMReaderNet.asp)

I found a freeware chm-to-html converter (http://www.gridinsoft.com/) (go to the bottom of the page) that works fantastically well. It's called CHM Encoder and I tested it with a 9 meg chm file and it spit out beautiful html pages with images and formatting completely intact. From html, convert it with your favorite offline reader!
