Gregor Samsa wakes up one morning to find that he has been transformed into some sort of verminous insect.

Thanks. I just recently read the pbook, along with a collection of other Kafka stories. One of his other stories, In the Penal Colony, is truly horrifying and sadly also not so different from current times.
