The ninth volume of the fairy stories, this one was first published in 1904.

It includes the wonderful "What the Rose did to the Cypress" from India. Also included are many tales from the US taken from the Native Americans (also called at times in Lang's writings "Red Men", Indians, or simply credited as "From Bureau of Ethnology."

My pick for this volume is "How Some Wild Animals became Tame Ones."

Included are the following stories:

What the Rose did to the Cypress
Ball-Carrier and the Bad One
How Ball-Carrier finished his Task
The Bunyip
Father Grumbler
The Story of the Yara
The Cunning Hare
The Turtle and his Bride
