Oscar Wilde originally wrote this play in French. It has been translated by Wilde’s lover, Lord Alfred Douglas, to whom Wilde has dedicated it.
It is the story of Salome and John the Baptist, treated in a decadent way.
I have added a few pictures by Aubrey Beardsley.
