saw this on engadget and it looks cool!

Given the many opportunities Sony's had to demo new gear in the past month, you'd think we'd have seen this earlier, but it looks like the company's latest ebook reader, the PRS-505, will be making its grand debut on the website of Chicago's own Abt Electronics. The update to the original Sony Reader will come in either silver or blue, feature a slightly redesigned layout, twice the internal memory, and may potentially rock what seems like an updated display. No word on any other changes, but it looks like the price is the same at $299.

No offense, Nat, but next time you may want to think of a better title for your scoop. Most likely a lot of people missed the story because its title is so unspectacular ("New Sony Reader" should really come first!)

I've edited the title of the tread to make it fit with the first post.

From the land of the NY Post, I offer these catchy, alternative headlines:

Lovely Reader. Meet 'er, Mate!

New Sony Reader - It's Sony a Dream

Sony Baloney - New Model Goes Poof

No offense, Nat, but next time you may want to think of a better title for your scoop.None taken, it's an excellent point. I think I'll leave this one alone, but bear it in mind in the future. :nice:

When we follow on Engadget we have the honesty to admit it, why can't they? The same reason why I don't go there anymore.

Heh, let's not ignore the possibility that an Engadget reader could have submitted the news to them without mentioning us.

I think it was, actually, they're usually good about mentioning sources when they have them.

Looks like they're thanking someone by the moniker of "hamster" for the tip. This "hamster' may well have seen it directly on ABT himself.

In any case, they managed to refrain from their usual "it's not a cell phone so it sucks" commentary, that's an improvement right there.

... reader could have submitted the news to them without mentioning us.

We have this situation quite often as well... someone submits news but doesn't mention his source. In this case there is no way of telling where the news originated from.

Yep. The Engadget guys are cool, and they do credit sources consistently. When they have items that don't give "proper" credit, I'm sure that it's not on purpose. No biggie.

Oddly enough, I think it's the mainstream journalists that appear less likely to give proper credit. But I hesitate to even come to that conclusion without really knowing what the writers were thinking. So often, a situation looks one way, but turns out to be coincidence or completely different.

It so incredibly ugly!
It looks so cheap in comarison to the "old" Reader. Also controls for page-flipping are on the wrong side and I'd touch the number-buttons every time I'd take this one in the hand - very disturbing :(

I want to buy the PRS-500 (the old one) from Germany.

Anybody has an idee who will sell me one?
Please? :/
