RWood 09-04-2007, 01:49 PM With HarryT's last post, Burroughs, Edgar Rice: The Efficiency Expert (http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13453) the MobileRead E-Book Upload area reached 1,000 entries. The majority are BBeB/LRF files for the Sony Reader followed by Mobi/PRC files for the iLiad and other MobiReader devices.

Nate the great 09-04-2007, 03:18 PM Yippee!
So, when is the parade scheduled? :)
Bob Russell 09-04-2007, 03:30 PM What an amazing accomplishment, and even more impressive when you see that not only are there some heavy duty contributers, but there are quite a few others that have joined in to make the whole thing an astounding success.
Even better, what an amazing resource it has become. Personally, I'd say that it has become a wonderful entry point into public domain books, and it has been a joy to find such interesting books and hidden gems. And don't just go for the files... be sure to read the blurbs that are shared about the books as well. It really does add to the interest level.
Congratulations to all who contributed, and many thanks!!!!
NatCh 09-04-2007, 03:38 PM Whoop! "Great Job" to all of you!

Sorry, no parade this time. After cleaning up behind the elephants last time no one seems inclined to invite them again and with no elephants, no parade.
We are thinking of a big party at your house this weekend, just a small get together for the 10,354 or so MobileRead members. Be sure to have enough ice. :D
NatCh 09-04-2007, 04:25 PM And crazy string -- can't have a real party without crazy string. :laughboom:
Patricia 09-04-2007, 07:35 PM This is an impressive accomplishment, especially as about three-quarters of the books were uploaded by three people: Harry T, Dr Drib and R Wood.
Is there any chance of getting the books in proper alphabetical order? the Balzacs are interspersed with Burroughs, Blackwood and Blake. And I can't find the Capek title at all. Now that we have a lot of books, we should keep them in order, otherwise people won't find what they want.
RWood 09-04-2007, 08:04 PM Patricia:
When you go to the E-Books page click on the "Author / E-Book" and the list will be sorted in alphabetical order. Then you can select any letter from the horizontal alphabet and go directly to that section.
I did that and just counted 48 Balzacs.

I have to step in and say sorry, nope, nada....
There's only 24 Balzacs. The other 24 are just another format.
Now what I want to know is.. are there any MobiPocket formatted books that do not have BBeB equivalents?

Thanks, Wood. I didn't know that.
And I've now found the Čapek title, at the beginning of the aphabet. It might be happier under 'C'.
24 Balzacs is about a quarter of the way through his oeuvre, so there's a lot to do. If I do them all, it will thouroughly fill up the letter B.

I don't believe so.
Alexander Turcic 09-05-2007, 03:49 AM 1000 entries - WOW!
It would not have been possible (especially not in such a short time) without you guys being so helpful and supportive. Thanks!
UncleDuke 09-05-2007, 12:45 PM this is great!
Leaping Gnome 09-05-2007, 03:58 PM Nice milestone! It's astounding how quickly this went from an idea of "hey, let's format some books for the Reader" to 1,000 entries!

Where is everyone? Ithought we were going to have a party. I bought all this food and no one showed up! :grin2:
LaughingVulcan 09-08-2007, 07:21 PM *nibbles on some Dim Sum*
*Ms. Sum screams*
*LV led away from the party in handcuffs*
It's an impressive milestone! And everyone feel free to party while I'm making bail....
JSWolf 09-09-2007, 05:27 PM I don't believe so.
Well, the other day I did find a book that I could purchase in BBeB and not MobiPocket. Said book is also available in eReader, MS Reader, and PDF but not Mobi.
That said COME ON PEOPLE! DO WE SONY OWNERS HAVE TO DO ALL THE WORK AROUND HERE?
