Hello there!

I was wondering if anyone could recommend good public domain mystery novels? I am only familiar with the works of Conan Doyle, Chesterton, and Poe, and would like to know if in your opinion there is any other writer comparable to those three masters.

Thanks in advance!

I don't know if anyone is interested, but I found these in the Book Uploads section:

The Thinking Machine (http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11504)

Dr. Thorndyke (http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11498)

Agatha Christie (http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11430)

I suggest Edgar Wallace, described as a "crime writer" by wikipedia.org (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edgar_Wallace). I think this is accurate, i.e. not exactly a mystery author. The Mind of Mr. J.G. Reeder is a good set of mystery short stories, and The Four Just Men is very good even if it isn't a conventional mystery. Book Uploads has many Wallace books, see for example Wallace, Edgar: Mr J.G. Reeder Omnibus (http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10844).
