They now call descriptive novels "slice of life" where for a few hours you can see the world through someone else's eyes. Two of the best at this were Sherwood Anderson and George Orwell. Of the two, Orwell makes you think a lot more while a lot of Anderson's work is sadly forgotten. (I plan to do several Anderson works soon.)

Many thanks for the Orwell books - he's a fine author - and I hope your work on these will attract new readers to his other works besides the famous 1984 and Animal Farm.

That would be great. I know that I have found many new writers in these postings that I had never read (or had forgotten that I had read) such as Haggard and Bentley. Hopefully others will experience Orwell for the first time.
