DXG: black lines on screen. defective?

*long time lurker, first time post*

hello all,
I've had a kindle 2 for quite a while now (love it) and just got a DXG.
the DXG image is sharper for sure but horizontal black lines run through the screen. i see nothing like this on the K2.
it's very distracting.
these lines are there no matter what format i'm reading or if it is in screensaver mode. these are very faint 'lines' mind you, kinda like what i would expect with some kind of burn-in on LCD.
I'm wondering if this is normal for the larger screen or anyone else has seen this. I took some photos of it but it doesn't show up very well.

if it always happens, and alt + G doesn't clear it, sounds like it might be defective. Try a reboot, hold powerswitch for 30 seconds, you should see "your kindle is restarting"

I've restarted and 'alt-g'd' a few times and the 'lines' are still there.
I hope this problem is on amazons list of known defects.

Use the "contact us" button on the right here......sign into your account, choose the 'call me' feature, enter your phone number and they will call you right back.

Let us know what they say......you should be getting a new one!

i don't think they'll give me much hassle over it...well, hope...

since I've signed up I've seen that some variation of it IS fairly common; not so much with kindles but other e-ink devices.
mine doesn't seem that bad really but it's so distracting.

so just to be straight here- the screen should be one solid color without any subtle variations? I just thought that perhaps with the bigger screen and better resolution something like this might be more apparent....

Few things can go wrong, but sounds like a hardware issue, it can be something trivial - the connector to the screen is loose, or the wiring is defective, or the connector is torn/mangled itself. Either way, they will replace the unit.

good thing too 'cause I'm starting to see these lines on my K2 now as well, staring at it for so long!
