Set in London at the time of the Gordon Riots of 1780, Barnaby Rudge interweaves a murder mystery with the story of Lord George Gordon's dangerous appeal to old religious prejudices against Roman Catholics. The brilliant descriptions of the destruction of Newgate prison by the rioters contain some of Dickens's most vivid writing.

This was Dickens' fifth published novel, published in 1841.

Fully illustrated with 76 original black and white illustrations by George Cattermole and Phiz.

Enjoy!

Bought a few books from Waterstones for Sony Reader. Very disappointing formatting - not even justified. I just wanted to thank you both for the choice of quality books you have uploaded and particularly the wonderful formatting, particularly Barnaby Rudge. BTW, what font have you used?

It's just the default "Dutch801" serif font of the Reader. Glad to hear that you're enjoying it.

Strange, because it is different from the default font on my other books. It is darker for one thing, which is good. Maybe is is marginally smaller and you have spaced closer so it gives that effect - I will do some checking. Thanks.

It's darker because it's bold. The "BookDesigner" tool (which I use to create these books) uses the bold version of the Dutch font as its default paragraph font.
