UncleDuke 04-21-2007, 04:17 PM love dumas. can't stop at just one. i want them all. astra 04-23-2007, 04:59 AM Thanks a lot :) Patricia 05-13-2007, 05:34 PM I'm very fond of this book and have tried twice to download it in to my Sony Reader. It refuses to recognise the .rar format. What should I be doing? I've only had ny reader for four days, so I'm still learning. Hadrien 05-13-2007, 05:45 PM .rar is a format used to compress files into smaller one. You need another app to open this file, you should try 7-zip: http://www.7-zip.org/ HarryT 05-14-2007, 01:39 AM I would recommend that uploaders stick to using the "zip" format. Although RAR is slightly more efficient, the advantage of "zip" is that an "unzipper" is built into Windows. Patricia 05-14-2007, 03:13 PM Thanks for explaining it, Hadrien. I'll have a go at decompressing the file. Strether 05-14-2007, 03:45 PM I agree with Harry. Trying to keep things simple, I try to avoid downloading yet another "tool" from the many available. If it's not available in zip format, I'd probably just format it myself. Jim NatCh 05-14-2007, 04:03 PM I would recommend that uploaders stick to using the "zip" format. How much compression advantage does zipping give on these files vs. just uploading the .LRF? Just idle curiosity, you understand. :nice: HarryT 05-15-2007, 03:50 AM Very, very little, if anything. As you know, LRF files are efficiently compressed, anyway. ZIP/RAR can rarely achieve better than a 5% compression of them, if that. Tattncat 06-28-2008, 11:37 PM Glad to see it here. This is a favorite of mine. |
