Library books with an iphone PID?

If I can get a hold of the PID for my iphone can I then use this to download library books to my iphone somehow?
I can get mobi and pdf ebooks from my library.
I would prefer not to remove DRM since I am not comfortable running scripts and such..... and I read 2-3 books a week so it would be quite annoying to keep hacking books.

Easy TXT Reader - text reader

In this forum, I didn't find any topic about "Easy TXT Reader". I think information about "Easy TXT Reader" will be very useful.
I have a lot of txt and plain text files and there are a lot of html texts everywhere.
For me the best text reader application is Easy TXT Reader. It has own text engine. It open not only txt files, it open all text files: txt, html, fb2, xml and others. Html and xml tags processed by built in engine. The text is good looking for any format (text hyphenation work nice). Encoding detect automatically. More than 30 settings, different control schemes, different brightness control schemes. Program have a good-looking interface. Files could be upload by USB, WiFi or URL. Program also has a text search, text selection and even text translation (by google translate service). Also this is very fast program with file indexing and all settings are unique for any files. After update (v.2.0) for mine it's really best program for reading all the texts. I didn't find any better application for text and html files. Does anybody know better text reader?

Reading Sanskrit documents on ipod Touch

Hi all,

I am a newbie to this forum.

Am considering to buy ipod Touch as a ebook-reader-cum-pocket-computer.

I tried reading Sanskrit documents (Veda & Upanishads) on my friend's ipod touch. Faced the following problems:

a) GoodReader rendered the Sanskrit beautifully (it did not have any complex script issues - described later on). But reading required horizontal scrolling (a few taps for each line) which was quite cumbersome. And unfortunately GoodReader could not reflow the Sanskrit docs.

b) Stanza could convert the pdf to a single font epub ebook. So documents having Sanskrit text and English translations of Sanskrit could not get rendered properly. Either the English text would show (if appropriate font was chosen) or the Sanskrit text would show (with poor rendering).

c) A Sanskrit only pdf document converted to epub would render properly on the Stanza viewer on Windows XP. But when transferred to the ipod, the Stanza app did not render the Sanskrit complex script properly. Specifically the half characters - like in the Sanskrit word Agni, ga is a half character and then we have full character consonant na and vowel e - are not combined properly and so make reading the badly rendered Sanskrit quite painful. [I am sorry I am not able to include images showing the correct rendering and the incorrect one and so folks not knowing Sanskrit would have difficulty in understanding what I have said.] In Windows XP one faces the same problem if one does not choose complex script rendering option [Install Files for complex script and right-to-left languages (including Thai)].

d) Tried Calibre but the resultant epub book faced the same problems as mentioned above (b & c).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I guess buying a larger form factor ebook reader would allow me to view the full pdf page and solve almost all of the above mentioned problems (so long as the pdf rendering program handles complex scripts like Sanskrit). But I intend to do a lot of my reading while I am walking indoors [Helps me keep fit :-)] for which I am more comfortable with an around 3.5 inch form factor. Further, I like the general purpose pocket computer (though proprietary and closed) aspect of the ipod Touch and its large number of available Apps.

Thanks in Advance

Does anyone know if there is an online service for storing your ebook files (maybe even Ereader pdbs AND Stanza epubs) and let you download those books to Stanza and EReader respectively online from everywhere? I would be willing to pay for such a service!

Hello,
This type of question may have been asked 100s of times; I am sorry for yet another one.
I'd like to read this e-book - http://arachnoid.com/sailbook/index.html - in my iPOD. You'll notice it's a free ebook and there's a Kindle form available. I have Kindle for iPhone/iPOD; based on the postings I've read I don't think they work together; I've downloaded Stanza also however the Catalog search did not produce hits for this e-book neither was the mobileread.com website included.
Any tips?
Thanks !

I've done bit the bullet and just purchased me an iPhone (yesterday). I've downloaded Stanza and am overjoyed at how it plays well with Calibre. I'm transferring a bunch of ePubs over to my IPhone from Calibre, and I started reading a novel on the iPhone in bed last night on a lark (Sony PRS505 at hand in case of an emergency:) ).

I tried reading with the traditional black text on white background, which was fine. I then got to playing with the Yin-Yang icon in the Stanza controls, and tried out white text on black background. I little disconcerting at first, but I probably could get used to it. My question is: Does the white text on black background demonstrably extend a battery charge on the iPhone, or is it a myth, or is it too little to really matter?

As a crass newbie with an iPhone, I've gots to know! :chinscratch:
