HELP! When trying to add any books to Calibre, either w/the Sony plugged in or not, I am now getting this error.

No Metadate from nonDRM eReader PDB file?

I just want to confirm if this is a missing feature or a bug. I have quite a few files that I've generated using DropBook 1.6. The resulting PDB has the correct metadata (title, author, etc) when I load it in eReader on the desktop. However, if I pull it into Calibre, it just puts the filename into Title and leaves the rest blank. In the past, I had a script that converted it to HTML that I would then import into Calibre. It would always pull the MetaData successfully with that one. (No...not THAT shady script...the html in that one is SCARY).

I know how the metadata is stored in an eReader file. If this is a missing feature, I'll get to work on a pluguin. If this is a bug, I'll start debugging. So, which is it?

Ah yes, I'm running Calibre 0.6.24 on OS X, Leopard (no snow).

Please Help - My Entire Calibre Library Disappeared

The title really says it all. Suddenly my Calibre library is gone. I can't find it anywhere. There is a folder called Calibre, but there is 1 book in it. I have searched my computer for all the missing folders without success -- I've even pored through the recycling bin. However, I have over 400 books on my e-reader and only had about 15 that I hadn't transferred over.

Well, I said, I'll just transfer them from the e-reader back into Calibre. Nope. No way to do that. :-( The thought of re-downloading all those books, stripping the DRM off them, importing them back into Calibre and then converting them all back to epub is enough to make me cry. That's many hours of work.

Is there some easy way to do this?

Since I have both dutch and english e-books, it would be nice to be able to filter on it in the Calibre main screen or add a language option to the metadata.

Is this already possible our would you consider it adding it to Calibre Kovid? I also have created an enhancement ticket for this.

Problem with convert fb2 to rtf

Hello!
I have many e-books in fb2 format (russian language). I must convert this format to epub, but text of this e-books formatted very bad. Therefore at first i want to convert fb2 to rtf and make better its content in MS Word (TOC, footnote, header styles etc.). After then i want to convert this rtf-files to epub. But... fb2 to rtf converting successfully only for latinic fonts in fb2 files, all cyrillic font characters convert to "?" character only. Converting fb2 to epub directly in this case is OK. Converting epub to rtf have this problem also (only for cyrillic fonts!!!).

Please, help me. Excuse me for my bad english.

Refreshing Calibre?

Can you refresh your book list on Calibre, so that it rechecks your files and adds any that are missing? I have started to use DropBox on the recommendation of another member :thanks: and my files are syncing, but they don't show in Calibre.:blink:

Hi, when I added books to my calibre library, I went through and organized them by tags. I generally find the books I want to read through the 'collections' category.

However, when I add the books to my device, the tags on the books don't follow through, and I have to go through and manually add them again.

The odd thing is, all the collections are created on the 600, but with no books in them...

edit: today after another hookup, the empty collections are gone.. /shrug

Anyone find a solution, other than adding the tags in the calibre database, copying them over, and then adding all the tags again?

The names, authors, etc seem to all be fine.
edit: one type of book format did not transfer correctly, the author got joined with the title, and the author tag left 'unknown' - think this only happened to txt files

Also, when you click to add to your device, does it auto-convert only the files that can't be read on your device to the default device format? I take it there's an option to tell it which formats to convert to what format, etc?

edit:
arg and I just noticed that there is no batch editing for the files on you device. Why? Now I would have to double click on every single 'tags' line and add the tag I want. That is so tedious. Anyone know how to either batch edit tags on the device, or carry the tags over from calibre library to the device?

If using the default sony software in any way will help, let me know. i have not even installed it, simply using calibre (which I love, but is making me angry at the moment)

one more edit:
I'm not sure exactly at what point yesterday this happened, but today all my notes were gone! This was mostly just highlighting and bookmarking, but I'm not really sure if some sync feature in calibre was responsible? the only automatic editing is moving news over, and deleting from calibre, the rest was a manual convert and move to the reader...

Qs:

1) is there yet any way to automatically delete old news from the reader, say, after a certain number of days?

2) is there any way to edit the way that the news is labeled? I have edited it all to be one "tag" and therefore collection, but I would like to remove the [monday] etc portion of the title (and maybe edit a bit more)

3) is there really no batch edit of tags once they are on the reader??

Calibre Corrupted on updating

Hello,

I have been a long time calibre user, until last month i updated it, but something strange happened.

#1 I lost all of my books, i mean the files are still there but the db has been reset
#2 As you can see from the picture all the fonts are corrupted

I have tried all, remove, install again, update but whatever i do the font issue is still there

could you please help me on this?

Back when I got my reader I asked and was told how to do this and it worked but somewhere along the way when I have updated it has stopped working. I had inserted some code and its still there, but it no longer inverts the page colors??

Sending eBooks to the SD-Card

Hi

I searched the forums but can't find the topic.
I want to ask if there is a way to send ebooks and news to the SD-Card of my Sony Reader Touch without connecting the reader to the mac.
So i just want to plug the SD-card in the cardreader. I tried the option "save to disk" but calibre doesn't send the books with tags. I can find the books on the reader but they are not in collections like the books i send on the normal way.

Hope there is a solution for my problem. Would save me tons of time.

Calibre2 ?

When I installed the newest Calibre it created this...

Which is kind of weird. I'm not sure Calibre has always been Calibre2 or if I'm just now noticing but to make the BookIt plugin work it searches for Calibre command line tools not Calibre2 command line tools.

After I hit okay on the error message popup and then hit okay to convert the files converted fine. I'm just not sure what this error message means? And if I'm ruining something by continuing to ignore the messages?

Problem with uninstalling to upgrade

I apparently have a version of Calibre so old that I have to uninstall my version to download and install the new one. Problem is, not everything got uninstalled, and I can't delete the folder, like the instructions say.

I have tried deleting the undeletable files one by one--but they tell me Access Denied and won't delete. I can MOVE them--but only into the main Program Files folder, so I can delete the calibre folder after I move everything, but about half the files will still be on my system. Is this going to cause problems?

I'm trying to do what I've been told to do, but it won't do it. Now what???

Also--I do not have much computer savvy, so I need a simple explanation. Thx.
