It's supposed to be an Interactive Fiction player very similar to Gargoyle, but more easily integrated in other platforms.

It is our goal that it will eventually be the IF player of choice, also on the iLiad. We're not there yet, but I have been busy the last couple of days creating the first version for the iLiad and I'm curious what others have to say about it.

I'm pleased to announce the first public version of Iliad Toolbox, v1.1.

Iliad Toolbox is a set of some useful small applications for your Iliad.


Tools:
- File Browser. (not implemented yet).
- System Information. Shows information about: cpu, memory, battery, uptime, load, disks, processes
- Recent Files. It lets you to delete some old entries in Recent Files that may pollute the list.
- Power-off. I need it because the switch-off handle of my old Iliad doesn't work well.

Better take a look at the screenshots to get an idea.


Code:
Iliad Toolbox has been written in Lua language and uses lgob (gtk+ bindings for lua), both compiled and packaged for Iliad by Great Hansel. Display refresh is handled by Hansel's xx, a small program based on Antartica's xepdmgr.
You don't need to install them separately because they are included with the package (and in fact that's the reason it's so big).


Installation:
To install, uncompress, copy on your Iliad and run the installer from the ContentLister.
To upgrade, delete the old version and proceed to install again.
Btw, the install method has been created by Hansel as well. :thanks:


Using Iliad Toolbox:
You need to use the stylus to click.
The X on top-left is to close each window.

To update: just remove the MiniPad directory on your memory card, unpack the update, and install again

I am pleased to announce the first release of MiniPad, a small text editor for the Iliad.

The main features are:
  • A simple installer: unpack on your memory card and click the install entry in the menu
  • Includes a virtual keyboard for text entry.
  • You can position the cursor and select text with the pen
  • Cut, paste and delete are working
  • A date button inserts the current date at the cursor position...
  • A cool thing is that you can hide MiniPad without closing it, open a book, reactivate MiniPad without closing the book, etc...

Feedback is welcome. I'll develop this further if there is enough interest...

PS: About the technology: MiniPad is written in Lua. It uses lgob, a Lua binding for GTK. The display refresh is handled by xx, a small program based on xepdmgr. The gui is designed with Glade, and converted to Lua with Glade4lua.
