Request for eReader sub-forum

I could've sworn this was already requested, but I can't find it. To be clear, I'm referring to the eReader format, which is a derivative of the old Peanut Press PDB files.

While I agree that the eReader format is "old," it is still seeing an awful lot of action lately. It's become the primary format for Barnes&Noble (after buying Fictionwise), and is supported by nearly all LCD devices: Symbian, Blackberry, iPhone (3 separate apps!), Mac, Windows, Android, WinMobile....did I miss any? Oh, and the Nook will support it as well, and I hear the Fox reader will also include it in a future update. Calibre also now works with this format.

Currently, there are eReader posts all over the "Other Formats" subforum. It's a mess to find them since I have to use search. Since it appears this format is sticking around and support for it is actually growing, could we please have a separate sub-forum for it? I think it deserves it.

Admittedly, it's my favorite format. It's the only DRM that doesn't thoroughly tick me off, and it's easy to create non-drm content (ePub is tad overly complex right now).

Ah yes, and let me close this by saying thanks for this site! I've been hanging around since iSilo was big!

MobileRead clout and Sony Upgrade

Is there a way to ask Sony to apply the $75 credit to upgrade from PRS 500 to the new Daily Edition? Currently the offer only works for the recently released readers.

Is it polite to start a petition in the Sony forum? Don't want to be disruptive. Thought I'd ask before starting something.

Thanks

Inform new users of forum guidelines

Mobile Read Posting Guidelines (http://www.mobileread.com/forums/faq.php?faq=vb_faq#faq_posting_guidelines):
---Quote---
Our members have developed a strong, constructive online community. To help maintain this friendly, supportive atmosphere, we ask that you follow these standards of politeness.
---End Quote---
I would think it a good suggestion that new members be pointed towards and familiarize themselves with these guidelines.

The Introduce Yourself Here - Welcome Guests and New Members (http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1410) thread is closed, but an additional polite invitation to review the guidelines might be helpful to new members and beneficial to us all.

This is probably mentioned to new members as a condition when signing up, but I can't remember reading it, and I didn't see it in desertgrandma's welcome (http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43794) either, so a bit of a reminder may be appropriate.

Existing members should also be reminded of these guidelines, and I'm glad to see that moderators are doing just that in certain threads.

If this suggestion is covered elsewhere, never mind. :o

Thanks.

Lately, when you get your foot (figuratively) here it's quite a chaos. Perhaps couple of subfolders would not be amiss - Kindle, Sony, Harlequin etc? Or perhaps a possibility to add a prefix?

I was trying to send a PM to another member. I am pretty sure I hit the submit button but it is not in my sent folder. I have only sent one other PM but it was in response to one received. I am not an experienced formum user. I tried searching for some kind of PM help but found nothing. Am I limited on PM usage? Like I have to post so many times before I can originate a PM? Should I just try again? I don't want the receiver to feel like I am pestering them. Can I attach something in a PM? :help:

Sorry if this in the wrong forum. I could not find a forum for general questions on forum usage?!

While browsing the forums, I have run onto several references to "check out the info on our Wiki page", with an accompanying link. Always good info there.

Then I decide to just go "check out our Wiki page" by clicking the link at the top of the screen, and all I get is an ad for Accutane and a search field.

Is that all there is? Am I missing something?

From the references in the various threads, I thot I'd go to a page with links to info input and updated by MB members.

Figured perhaps the forum would be a good place to find out what the story is.

How about an Events section?

Hi all...there seem to be more and more events and even though there is a Meet-Up Prefix (BTW thanks for that, great visual tag..:thanks:) would it be better to have an _Events forum _between "Flea Market" and "Lounge".

1. The lounge is a very high traffic area and "Meet-Up" posts quickly move off the first page.
2. It's nice to be able to find meet-up events quickly and easily.

If the software can handle it .....maybe in calendar format??

Many thanks for a great service.
